Mid Autumn Festival Fundraising Event
The 2008 Mid Autumn Festival concluded in a hyper atmosphere, marking the success of this event. A total of £ was raised, all proceeds will go towards the Chinese Centre and the Chinese School. This has got to be the second most successful and massive production following our 10th Anniversary event back in 2006. To make sure we achieve the outstanding result we aimed to achieve, a group of volunteers worked very hard together; especially the Swans Dance group. They rehearsed the dances repeatedly so that performance on the day is immaculate. Mrs Lee, our Chairperson, also has been training vigorously for a mystery performance, which brought much surprises and admiring applauses from the whole audience. Her hard worked was well rewarded, she raised a total of £3000. In addition to our own members, a large numbers of guest from other Chinese Associations across the UK joined us as well. They were very enthusiastic during the Karaoke fund raising part, brimming with talents; they sang songs varying from English songs to Chinese Opera. Surprisingly the act that stole the limelight was two our Chinese elders who sang traditional Hakka folk songs; the atmosphere was electric, sending heart warming currents through the audience. The two special guest whom we invited from Hong Kong performed many well know songs, their beautiful voices and glamorous outfit made the evening even more colourful and enjoyable. Apart from expressing our thanks to all those who came to support us, we extend our thanks to the sponsors and raffle prize donors. We would like to say a special thank you to our volunteers, as always, making the best effort to the ensure the evening went successfully. |
