Caring Together: Western Bay Health and Social Care Programme 2016
A 6-month grant for £12,033 was awarded to help Ethnic Chinese senior citizens who are suffering from, or at high-risk from developing chronic diseases, such as diabetes, maintain their independence. The project seeks to arrange a variety of different activities to combat isolation and enhance their knowledge of chronic diseases and prevention.
- Collaborate with public, private and third sector organisations: such as health-related charities (Diabetes UK, etc.), Swansea University researchers and local health teams;
- Organise educational activities to promote healthy lifestyle choices to prevent and delay the development of chronic diseases prevalent in our community;
- Provide quality interpretation and translation services to enable wider access within the Chinese community – effectively eliminating language and cultural barriers;
- Produce up-to-date information leaflets on chronic health problems in Chinese, available for distribution in Swansea and among the wider Chinese community nationwide.
Findings will be published upon the completion of the end-of-project report.
